CEO and Founder
As the son of a doctor and an editor, it was always on the cards that I would go into a world of medicine and academia. Fast-forward to today, I have worked as clinician, academic, researcher, and, most recently, a business owner.
My journey started in 2011 when I began my undergraduate studies in emergency medical care at the University of Johannesburg. After graduating, I worked for the Gauteng Provincial Government as a neonatal and critical care transportation clinician. From there, I was transferred to Lebone College, where I took on the role of a program coordinator. During this time, I studied a master’s degree in emergency medicine at the University of Cape Town.
In 2020, I was recruited to work as a faculty member at the Higher College of Technology in the United Arab Emirates. With 10 years of experience as an educator, I decided to take a giant leap and start my own business. In July 2024, I founded Proficien, a software development, consulting, and technology company that provides solutions to medical organisations to improve their clinical governance and skills retention of their staff. To say it has been scary is an understatement, but growing and reinventing yourself always is!
I am an avid triathlete, which has taught me many lessons, like the value of consistency and determination, that I would have never learnt anywhere else. I am so grateful for the lessons the sport has given me, and keeps giving me, as I find ways of dealing with adversity.
My goal is to keep working in the innovation space and to keep growing the field I love so much. I see the medical field moving toward greater integration of technology, personalised medicine, and interdisciplinary collaboration to improve patient outcomes and healthcare accessibility. I am excited to be part of the journey!
